Wests Tigers vs New Zealand Warriors Predictions

New Zealand Warriors are on a long losing run and appear to have checked out already despite still having slim finals claims. Wests Tigers have also struggled for wins of late.

The one thing Wests have in their favour is a greater attacking threat than the Warriors, and that could be the marginal difference.

  • Wests Tigers have lost 4 of their last 5 games.
  • Wests Tigers have seen 52+ points in their last 5 games.
  • Wests Tigers have seen 46+ points in their last 2 matches against New Zealand Warriors.
  • New Zealand Warriors have lost their last 7 games.

Head to Head

Wests Tigers hold a 5-3 head to head advantage over New Zealand Warriors from the last eight clashes.

However, the Warriors have won three of the last four games. That includes a 26-20 victory last season and a 30-26 win in Round 11 this campaign.

Wests Tigers Form

Wests Tigers were given a thumping last week by the in-form Manly Sea Eagles, going down 44-24 in Round 19.

Michael Maguire's side have also suffered heavy defeats at the hands of Parramatta Eels, Melbourne Storm and South Sydney Rabbitohs in the last five games.

The only game they have played against a side outside of the top six during the recent run saw Wests win 42-24 against the Brisbane Broncos two weeks ago.

Despite last week's loss, Wests remain in 12th spot and two wins outside of the eight.

Wests Tigers Team News

Luke Garner is ruled out with an ankle injury, so Shawn Blore comes in for Wests.

Joe Ofahengaue also starts in place on Thomas Mikaele, who is also unavailable.

Alex Twal has been named on the bench but faces a late decision on his fitness after struggling with a shoulder injury.

New Zealand Warriors Form

The Warriors' struggles continued last week as they slipped to a seventh straight defeat.

A 60-22 loss at the hands of the South Sydney Rabbitohs last week continued a miserable run of form. The Warriors defence went to pieces as they conceded 10 tries.

The Warriors have also lost to North Queensland Cowboys, Melbourne Storm, Newcastle Knights, St George Illawarra Dragons, Cronulla Sharks and Penrith Panthers.

New Zealand still have very faint final hopes, but sitting 14th on the ladder at 5-13 they need a miracle to turnaround their season.

New Zealand Warriors Team News

The Warriors have been forced into a late change with Josh Curran out and Jazz Tevaga come into the lock role.

Tevaga's spot on the interchange bench has been taken by Viliami Vailea.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has returned home to New Zealand, meaning the returning Peta Hiku takes over a captain of the Warriors.

Taniela Otukolo is named at hooker, while Eliesa Katoa needs to pass a concussion test if he is to play having been named to start.
