Rugby League Internationals are matches played between the 68 national associations which are governed by the Rugby League International Federation. The highlight is the Rugby League World Cup which will next be held in England in 2021.

Rugby league began in England in 1895 before spreading to Wales in 1907 and Australia and New Zealand in 1908. The game spread to France in 1934 and is now extremely popular in the Pacific Island nations such as Tonga, Fiji, Samoa and Papua New Guinea.

The International Rugby League Board was formed in 1948. Three governing bodies including the Fédération Française de Rugby à XIII, New Zealand Rugby League and Britain's Rugby Football League joined forces with the Australian Rugby League joining soon after.

The establishment of the IRLB was important in the formation of the first Rugby League World Cup which made its début in 1954.

Rugby League is slowly spreading around the world with 68 national associations currently registered. Australia are ranked #1 followed by New Zealand, England, Tonga, Fiji, Samoa, Scotland, France, Lebanon, Papua New Guinea, Ireland and Wales.
