France host Italy at the Stade de France in the final group stage fixture in the Autumn Nations Cup on Saturday. The hosts have been forced into making 13 changes if they want to be at full strength next weekend, so Italy will see this as an opportunity to cause an upset.

France have won their last four matches and finished second on points difference in the 2020 Six Nations. They are in prime position to finish top of their group in the Autumn Nations Cup which will set up a final with England next weekend.

Last week France saw off Scotland 22-15 at Murrayfield. It was an impressive display from France who notoriously struggle in Scotland. Prior to that France picked up a full house of five points because Fiji couldn’t field a team due to COVID-19 infections.

France have made 13 changes to the side that played Scotland last week. This is due to an agreement between the French Rugby Board and their local clubs. Players will only be available for three matches, so this is the one that France are sacrificing ahead of the finals next weekend.

Fly-half Jalibert and winger Teddy Thomas are the only players to retain their places from last weekend.

Italy lost all five matches in the 2020 Six Nations and then lost their opening match of the Autumn Nations Cup to Scotland 28-17 at home.

Last week Italy were handed five points as Fiji couldn’t field a team due to COVID-19 infections. This has allowed head coach Franco Smith an extra week to prepare for this match.

Franco Smith has selected Maxime Mbanda and Johan Meyer to fill the loose trio along with Braam Steyn.

Loose forward Jake Polledri will miss this match after requiring knee surgery. Seb Negri is also unavailable as he has a thigh complaint.
