Ireland welcome Georgia to the Aviva Stadium for an Autumn Nations Cup fixture on Sunday. Despite Georgia’s inability to score points over their last two matches, they will fancy their chances of being competitive against an Ireland outfit with nine changes.

Ireland Form

Ireland have been a bit inconsistent this year as head coach Andy Farrell has started to integrate some youngsters. The Irish finished third in the 2020 Six Nations but were in with a chance of winning it until the final round.

At home Ireland have won 19 of their last 20 matches, only England have managed victory at the Aviva Stadium. After a dominant home performance against Wales (32-9) to open up their Autumn Nations Cup, Ireland went down 18-7 at Twickenham against England last week.

It looks very likely that Ireland will finish second behind England in Group A, which should see them play Scotland on finals weekend for third place. They do however need to get past Georgia first.

Ireland Team News

Andy Farrell has made nine changes to his side this weekend as he looks to rest some stars ahead of finals weekend.

Up front Finlay Bealham, Rob Herring, Ian Henderson, Tadhg Beirne and Will Connors come in. Shane Daly could make his debut from the bench.

At scrum-half Conor Murray comes in with Billy Burns alongside him at fly-half. Jacob Stockdale returns to full-back which means Stuart McCloskey will play at centre.

Georgia Form

Georgia have impressed at times during the Autumn Nations Cup considering they haven’t played much rugby of late. It is on attack where the coaching staff will be concerned as they haven’t scored a point in their opening two matches.

Georgia lost 40-0 to England in their first match and then 18-0 to Wales last weekend. It was an impressive enough showing against Wales, they matched the Welsh and even dominated some aspects. Georgia just didn’t have the quality to put Wales under consistent pressure.

Georgia Team News

After an impressive display against Wales last week, head coach Levan Maisashvili is unlikely to fiddle with his line-up too much. Tamaz Mchedlidze will hope to get a start to bring some creative spark to a team that has struggled with ball in hand.

Ireland vs Georgia Head to Head

Ireland have won all four previous matches against Georgia. At the 2007 Rugby World Cup Georgia came within touching distance of Ireland, losing 14-10.

Ireland vs Georgia Odds

Ireland are heavily favoured at 1.002 with Georgia offering odds of 34.00. A draw is available at 67.00

The handicap for the match is set at 35 points with bet365.

Ireland vs Georgia Match Up

Georgia will take Ireland on up front but even when they get go-forward ball, they don’t possess the talent in the back-line to finish off too many opportunities. Ireland have the most possession the Autumn Nations Cup so Georgia will be defending a lot, but that is their strength.
