Scotland will want to continue their fine run of form when they open their Autumn Nations Cup campaign against Italy in Florence on Saturday. The hosts are on a six-match losing streak and that is unlikely to end this weekend.

Italy come into the Autumn Nations Cup on the back of six successive defeats. That includes suffering defeat in all five 2020 Six Nations matches, which saw the Italians finish bottom.

Not only have they suffered defeat in six matches in a row, they have not finished within 13 points of any team.

They lost 42-0 to Wales in Cardiff before mounting some sort of fight in a 35-22 defeat to France in Paris. Scotland then took them down 17-0 in Rome.

That was followed by a 50-17 drubbing against Ireland before England saw them off 34-5 in their last match.

After a disappointing 2019 Rugby World Cup campaign, Scotland were impressive in the 2020 Six Nations as they finished fourth.

The Scots began the campaign with a 19-12 loss to Ireland in Dublin before succumbing to England 13-6 at Murrayfield. Scotland then won their next three games – 17-0 against Italy, 28-17 against France and finally 14-10 against Wales in Cardiff.

That run of results will give Scotland a major confidence boost considering they were not expected to win either of their last two matches.
