Australia host New Zealand in the 3rd Bledisloe Cup Test at the ANZ Stadium with the hosts looking to stay alive in the four-match series. The All Blacks were a much improved outfit in the 2nd Bledisloe Cup Test and they should prove too strong for the Wallabies once again.

Australia Form

Australia would have been extremely happy as they drew 16-16 against New Zealand at Sky Stadium in the 1st Bledisloe Cup Test a few weeks ago. That joy will however have dissipated since losing 27-7 the following week against the same opponents.

Head coach Dave Rennie is taking the side through a rebuilding phase after a poor few years on the rugby field but will be encouraged by the teams’ performances thus far.

The Wallabies were inches away from winning that first Test and had a good first half in the second Test, but failed to take their opportunities. They were made to pay in the second half at Eden Park and will hope home ground advantage brings better fortunes.

Australia News

Dave Rennie is likely to fiddle a bit with the starting line-up as he searches for his best combinations. Loose-forward, Isi Naisarani has been called up to the squad as has Brumbies hooker, Connal McInerney but neither is likely to start.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand bounced out of the break with a 16-all draw at Sky Stadium against Australia in the 1st Bledisloe Cup match. This was their first match since beating Wales to third place at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

With less rustiness, the All Blacks showed their superiority in the 2nd Bledisloe Cup Test at Eden Park as they marched to a comfortable 27-7 victory over Australia.

The last time New Zealand played in Australia they were well off their usual pace with the hosts winning 47-26 at Optus Stadium in Perth in August 2019. It was a surprise defeat but the All Blacks did bounce back to win 36-0 the following week.

New Zealand News

All 36 players from the All Blacks squad has been confirmed to be fit. That means a likely return for veteran lock Sam Whitelock to the second-row. Prop Joe Moody is also fit which will give the New Zealand scrum and forward pack a huge boost.

Australia vs New Zealand Head to Head

New Zealand lead Australia 48-17 over their last 68 matches along with three draws. Their last match ended 27-7 in the All Blacks favour at Eden Park.

Australia vs New Zealand Odds

Australia are paying 3.50 for the win while New Zealand are short priced at 1.32 with bet365. The draw carries odds of 23.00.

The handicap for the match is set at 9 points.

Australia vs New Zealand Match Up

Despite two very competitive performances by Australia in New Zealand recently, they lacked the ability to finish off their limited opportunities in the second match. Being at home will count in Australia’s favour, thus the lower handicap but the All Blacks will need to have an off day for them to get close.
