New Zealand and Australia continue their Bledisloe Cup rivalry at the Sky Stadium in Wellington on Sunday morning. This should be an exciting contest but the All Blacks are likely to continue their dominance over the Wallabies with a comfortable win.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand lost their long-held world No. 1 ranking last year after South Africa won the World Cup and will be keen to regain that spot.

Due to the pandemic New Zealand have yet to play since beating Wales 40-27 in the Rugby World Cup 3rd/4th place playoff in Japan on 19 November 2019. The All Blacks were knocked out by England 19-7 at the semi-final stage.

Prior to losing to England, New Zealand had won their group convincingly and beat Ireland 46-14 in the quarter-final.

New Zealand News

New Zealand have most of the familiar names back but there are a few debutants that could appear off the bench. Damian McKenzie should start at full-back after missing the Rugby World Cup through injury.

Australia Form

Australia finished second in their group at the 2019 Rugby World Cup after losing 29-25 to Wales. While their other games ended in convincing victories they were no match for England in the quarter-finals.

England went on to win 40-16 which sparked the end of coach Michael Cheika’s tenure. New Zealander Dave Rennie has taken over the reins and will hope to turn around the Wallabies fortunes around.

Australia News

Australia have a huge 48-man squad with a number of players set to make their debut at some point over the next two weeks. Matt To’omua should retain his place at flyhalf but Noah Lolesio will be breathing down his neck, while Michael Hooper is the only certain starter at flank.

New Zealand vs Australia Head to Head

New Zealand have dominated Australia 47-17 over their last 66 matches along with two draws. Their last match took place on 17 August 2019 where New Zealand thrashed the Wallabies 36-0 at Eden Park.

New Zealand vs Australia Odds

New Zealand short priced favourites at 1.10 with Australia clear outsiders at 7.50. The handicap for the match is set at 17 points with bet365.

New Zealand vs Australia Match Up

New Zealand and Australia were the first countries to return to rugby since the pandemic struck so both should be relatively ready for international rugby. The All Blacks are expected to come away with a comfortable victory especially with Australia hitting the reset button and selecting many newcomers.
