Clermont vs Stormers Predictions & Tips - Clermont backed in handicap market

I’m backing Clermont to cover the -4 handicap.

Clermont and the Stormers have never previously met.

Clermont are not enjoying their final season as they currently sit 10th in the Top 14. They have won five, drawn one and lost six of their matches to date.

A good run in the Champions Cup will certainly be on the French outfits agenda. And at home, it is not often that you go against Clermont, or any French outfit for that matter.

After suffering a heavy defeat to Racing 92, Clermont did bounce back to beat Montpellier 19-14 at home last weekend.

Clermont are expected to name a strong side for this fixture. It is crucial to getting their season back on track.

This is completely new territory for the Stormers as indeed it is for all South African sides. Last year was the first year that the South African franchises played in the United Rugby Championship following the disbandment of Super Rugby.

This season they South African sides have been welcomes into the European Championship. The Stormers, while in new territory, do have plenty of form on their side. They won the URC last season and are third this year with six wins and a draw in their eight matches.

Last week the Stormers beat the Dragons 34-26 at home. They were dominant but allowed the Welsh side back into the match late on. The week before the Cape Town franchise beat Scarlets 36-19.

The Stormers have their international players back from international duty. That means they are at full strength, barring any late injuries.
