Glasgow Warriors vs Toulon Predictions

The Aviva Stadium in Dublin hosts the final between Glasgow Warriors and Toulon. Toulon will go in the as the favourites on neutral soil but will know that Glasgow are a top side. The Warriors will fancy themselves to even win it given their form in recent months.

Glasgow Warriors finished second behind Toulon in Pool A with three wins from four in the pool stage. The Warriors have played superbly in the knockout round and have been in good form.

A 12-9 win at home against Scarlets in the URC was followed by a 29-27 home win against Connacht. They would then beat Scarlets 35-17 away in the Challenge Cup semi-final.

Their last match was a 14-5 loss at home against Munster in the URC quarter final. The Warriors suffered a major blow with a red card for Tom Jordan in the first half and battled hard to stay in the match. It ultimately proved too challenging despite some dogged defence as they crashed out.

Tom Jordan misses the match after his red card as Glasgow should be able to field a strong side yet again as Domingo Miotti is likely drafted in to be Tom Jordan’s replacement.

Toulon Form

Toulon have coasted into the final with some convincing victories in the knockout rounds albeit all at home. They topped Pool A with four wins from four and are yet to lose in the competition.

Recent form has seen Toulon lose 31-18 at Castres before beating Benetton 23-0 at home in the Challenge Cup They would then go on to lose 23-8 at home to La Rochelle.

The most recent result was a 43-7 away loss at Racing 92. Racing 92 blew their opponents away in a match where the visitors may have had one eye on the Challenge Cup final as a distraction. Racing would score five tries on the night to cap off a forgettable performance by Toulon.

The squad has not been announced but we expect Toulon to have their full-strength squad available.

Verdict

Glasgow v Toulon

Glasgow should take this match to the wire and I am backing them to cover the +6.5 spread as Toulon have not been great this season when playing away from home.
