The Bulls travel to Durban to face the Sharks in what promises to be a cracking Currie Cup fixture at Kings Park on Saturday. The Bulls are at the top of the Currie Cup table while the Sharks are in second place.

The Sharks have slowly improved as the season has gone on. They currently hold second place on the Currie Cup table, behind only the Bulls.

When the Sharks came up against the Bulls in Super Rugby Unlocked competition they suffered a 41-14 defeat but have since performed well.

The Sharks did not play last weekend so they’ve had two weeks to prepare for this encounter. On the opening weekend of the Currie Cup the Sharks beat the Pumas 45-10 at home.

The big news for the Sharks is that outside centre and captain Lukhanyo Am returns from injury to start this weekend. Winger, Sbu Nkosi who scored a brace of tries off the bench in the last match, gets a start this weekend.

The Bulls currently top the Currie Cup table after only one defeat this season. They have won their opening two Currie Cup matches and only lost once in Super Rugby Unlocked.

On the first weekend of Currie Cup action the Bulls beat Western Province 22-20 after coming from behind with 14-men. Last weekend the Pretoria-based side smashed the Cheetahs 40-13 at home.

The Bulls currently sit on 32 points, eight ahead of the Sharks in second place. Victory this weekend will all but secure the top spot.

Ruan Nortje comes in at lock to replace Sintu Manjezi who takes his place on the bench. The only other change sees Jacques van Rooyen start at prop after serving a ban for his red card on the opening weekend.

The Bulls lead 5-3 in their last eight matches against the Sharks. They last met in Super Rugby Unlocked this year where the Bulls won 40-14 at Loftus Versfeld.
