Sharks vs Cheetahs Predictions
Much depends on what players are available to the Sharks for this match. At full strength they should have the quality to see off a Cheetahs side who have struggled defensively.
- Sharks have won 3 of their last 5 matches.
- Cheetahs have failed to win in their last 3 matches.
- Cheetahs lost 47-30 in their last match against the Sharks.
Head to Head
Sharks have won five of their last seven matches against the Cheetahs. They met a few weeks ago in the Currie Cup where the Sharks ran out 47-30 winners in Bloemfontein.
The Sharks are second on the Currie Cup table coming into this weekend, four points off the Bulls. A COVID-19 outbreak within the squad in midweek ensured the Sharks couldn’t fulfill their fixture against the Pumas.
Of their five completed matches the Sharks have won three. That includes a 47-30 victory at the Cheetahs before they surprisingly lost 37-27 at home to Griquas.
The Sharks won their last match, a very impressive 35-28 victory over the defending champions and table toppers, Bulls. It was a superb performance especially at set piece where they gave the Bulls big problems.
Sharks Injuries & Team News
The Sharks will only announce their squad late on Saturday or early Sunday as they continue to wait for COVID-19 results.
The Cheetahs are bottom of the table but only five points off the semi-final places. They can still qualify of the playoffs but they need to get some positive results under the belt.
Defensively the Cheetahs have been atrocious this season. They have conceded 40+ points in their last three matches and should have won at least two of those.
Since beating Western Province 38-21 at home, the Cheetahs have lost 47-30 to the Sharks, 40-39 to Western Province and drew 44-44 against the Lions in their last match.
Cheetahs Injuries & Team News
Hawies Fourie won’t be looking to make too many changes, perhaps just giving his players a bit of a wake-up call. Their commitment on defence has been shocking of late and if they want to make playoffs, things will have to change this weekend.
The odds for this match has yet to be released.
