These two met three times during the 2023 Currie Cup. The Sharks won both home and away in the round robin stage, but the Pumas won the semi-final in Durban.

The Sharks have lost both of their opening two Currie Cup games in 2024 after finishing second on the table in 2023. While it is still early, the Sharks will need to start getting some positive results.
In the first round, the Sharks lost 26-25 at home to the Lions, a game they could have won. However, the final kick of the game went narrowly wide to hand the visitor’s victory.
Last week the Durban-based outfit were again losers in a very tight contest. Leading 24-7 at the break, the Sharks looked to be on their way to victory in Kimberley, but Griquas fought back to win the game 34-31.
Sharks Injuries & Team News
The Sharks had some of their international players available last week including Lukhanyo Am and Makazola Mapimpi. They have all returned to the Springbok camp this weekend.
Pumas Form
The Pumas were very good in round one, beating Griquas 44-24 in Kimberley. That felt like the Nelspruit side had set the tone for the season where they are looking to make the Currie Cup final for the third successive year.
However, things went horribly awry at home last weekend as the Lions annihilated them 75-21. It was a shock to the system to see the margin and the Pumas will need to dig deep to regain some confidence.
