However, Bristol mounted a comeback against Exeter, dotting down four tries and three conversions in the time remaining to secure the win.
Before that result, the Bristol Bears beat the Newcastle Falcons 24-3 away, lost 36-41 against Gloucester at home, and defeated Bath 36-26 away.
The Bristol Bears have won all their fixtures on the road thus far but suffered their only defeat at home this season. They have also lost to Saracens three consecutive times at their stadium.
