Northampton started the second half with a 13-7 lead over their opponents before they scored back-to-back converted tries in the 44th and 48th minutes of the match to extend their advantage to 27-7.

However, Northampton conceded two converted tries in the remaining 12 minutes of the game, but held onto their lead until the final whistle.

Before that victory, the Saints lost 38-16 against Bath away in their season opener.
