Sale Sharks vs Leicester Tigers Predictions

An epic clash awaits us at AJ Bell Stadium as Sale Sharks tussle with Leicester Tigers. I'm backing the hosts to cover the small handicap.

  • Sale Sharks have won 14 of their last 16 home matches.
  • Sale Sharks have won the last 6 home head-to-head matches.
  • Sale Sharks have covered the -3.5 handicap in 7 of their last 9 home matches.
  • Leicester Tigers have lost 3 of their last 6 away matches.

Head-to-Head

Leicester Tigers holds the edge with a 43-26 lead with 4 draws in 73 matches.

The last fixture saw Sale Sharks win 40-5 at home.

Sale Sharks Form

The lads from Salford finished the season in second place with fourteen wins. They have been strong at home with nine wins from their ten matches.

Sale’s results have included a 28-27 away loss at Cardiff in the Challenge Cup and a 36-20 away win over Bristol. A 25-22 away win at Gloucester would be next.

The last match ended in a 54-12 home win over Newcastle Falcons. The Falcons have been the worst side this season and it showed as Sale powered to a deserved victory. They crossed the line on eight occasions in a dominant display from start to finish.

Leicester Tigers Form

Leicester Tigers finished the season in third place with eleven wins. They started the season awfully and clawed their way back with six wins from their last seven matches.

A 16-6 home win over Edinburgh was succeeded by a 55-24 away loss to Leinster in the Champions Cup. They got back to winning ways with a 62-19 home win over Exeter next.

The Tigers lost 20-17 at home to Harlequins in their last fixture. Chris Ashton was shown a red card in the first half as the Tigers battled hard to stay in the match. A late try with 5 minutes to go closed the gap but Harlequins held on as discipline was the architect of Leicester’s demise.

Verdict

I expect this to be a great match with Sale just edging it at home and covering the handicap.
