Argentina are favourites at home, but their inconsistency is a major concern when looking to back them. Australia are slowly improving but this will be a big test for them. While I fancy the hosts to win, I do think Australia will get within a score.

The last seven fixtures between these sides have seen Australia win three, two draws and two Argentine victories. The last two games have been won by Argentina with the 2023 Rugby Championship clash ending 34-31 to Los Pumas in Sydney.

Argentina will be pleased with their form of late, but they will be concerned about the lack of consistency. In July this year, Los Pumas lost the first Test at home against a second-string French side.

A week later, Argentina bounced back to win and level the series against France before thrashing Uruguay 79-5 a week later. In their Rugby Championship opener, Argentina produced a sublime performance to beat New Zealand 38-30 in Wellington.

However, a week later, their inconsistency came back to bite them, losing 42-10 to the All Blacks. This is a crucial two weeks for Los Pumas as two victories will keep them in the title hunt.

Australia have a mountain to climb under Joe Schmidt in this Rugby Championship. They have lost both of their opening games and look set to finish bottom, unless they can manufacture a win or two from the next two weeks.

After a disastrous 2023, it is hard to argue that the Wallabies are showing signs of improvement. They beat Wales 2-0 in a home series and saw of Georgia with a much-changed outfit.

The opening two rounds of the Rugby Championship didn’t go as planned with the Aussies losing both games convincingly to South Africa at home. While there was much criticism of their performance, they again, in parts of their game, showed improvement.
