Argentina vs Australia Predictions & Tips - Argentina set for home win
- Argentina narrowly lost 20-19 to Australia last weekend in rainy conditions.
- Argentina is expected to perform better and cover the -4 handicap in the rematch.
- Both teams have shown inconsistent performances recently and may make squad changes.
Argentina vs Australia Preview
Last week saw Argentina go down by a point to the Wallabies in very wet conditions. Despite looking the better side, Los Pumas failed to close the game out in the second half. I do, however, expect them to be far better this weekend and cover the -4 handicap.

Head to Head
The Aussies beat Argentina 20-19 last weekend.
Argentina Form
Argentina began the 2024 Rugby Championship with an impressive 38-30 win over New Zealand away from home. Unfortunately, the following week they fell to a heavy defeat to the same opposition.
Returning home to face Australia, Argentina would have fancied their chances last weekend. However, they lost to a last minute try by the Aussies. The 20-19 defeat will hurt Argentina hugely as they were big favourites for the fixture.
The game was played in very wet and rainy conditions and for the majority of it, Los Pumas were on top, particularly in the first half. Poor errors by the hosts kept allowing the Wallabies to stay in the game and eventually Argentina paid the price.
Argentina Injuries & Team News
Expect some changes to the Los Pumas side this Saturday after a poor showing last weekend.
Australia Form
Australia have been low on confidence over the past 18 or so months after a disastrous World Cup campaign in 2023. While they beat Wales twice and Georgia in July, the Rugby Championship was always going to be the big test.
In the opening two rounds the Wallabies failed, losing heavily to South Africa on two successive weekends. However, there was some improvements in their game under Joe Schmidt, that is hard to argue.
Going to Argentina is always tough for all sides, but Australia, while not performing brilliantly, won the match 20-19 with a last-minute score. That will give the squad a massive boost for this weekend’s clash.
Australia Injuries & Team News
Australia were impressive on Saturday past, but in order to keep that momentum, they may need to make a change or two, particularly up front.
Verdict
Argentina are backed to bounce back and cover the -4 handicap against Australia this Saturday.
