Argentina are currently second on the Rugby Championship table and still have a chance of winning the competition. However, they must win home and away against the Springboks.

Los Pumas began the Rugby Championship with a scintillating 38-30 win over New Zealand in Wellington. Against the same opposition a week later, they however lost 42-10.

Argentina then welcomes Australia for a two-match tour. The Aussies won the first Test by a point, a match Los Pumas really should have won.

The following week, Argentina took full revenge though, smashing Australia 67-27 with a brilliant second half showing.

Argentina will probably stay as close as possible to the side that thrashed Australia a fortnight ago.

South Africa Form

South Africa are in prime position to win the Rugby Championship for the first time since 2019. They are on 18 points and just need one win to secure the title.

The Springboks have been dominant in the tournament, thrashing Australia twice in the opening two weeks. South Africa then beat New Zealand twice at home, although both fixtures could have gone the other way with the hosts not at their best.

It is, however, not often that you do the double on the All Blacks so the Springboks will be brimming with confidence. They will hope to secure the title this weekend and then create an opportunity for an unbeaten campaign.

Rassie Erasmus has made 10 changes to the Springboks side this weekend. It is still a very good team with a number of World Cup winners. Handre Pollard retains his starting berth at flyhalf while Salmaan Moerat captains from lock with Siya Kolisi rested.

I am tipping Argentina to get within the 10-point handicap against the world champions. I also wouldn’t rule out a home win.
