Head to Head
Australia have won nine of their last 11 matches against France while the Aussies have not lost at home to the French since 1990, a stretch of 11 matches.
They last met in November 2016 where Australia won 25-23 at the Stade de France.
Australia had a very inconsistent 2020 which included three draws. COVID-19 caused most of the games to be cancelled but the Wallabies did manage some impressive results.
They drew 16-16 against New Zealand in the first Bledisloe Cup Test match but then suffered a 27-7 loss the following week against the same opposition. Another heavy defeat (43-5) followed against New Zealand.
The two sides met for a fourth time the week after where Australia won 24-22. The Wallabies were quickly brought down to the earth with successive draws against Argentina to end their international season. The first match ended 16-16 and the next 15-15.
Australia Injuries & Team News
Jake Gordon looks set to start at scrumhalf with Tate McDermott coming off the bench. James O’Connor may be given more time to recover from injury which means Noah Lolesio is the likely flyhalf.
France have finished second in the last two Six Nations competitions. In the 2021 tournament they won three of their five matches.
After being Italy 50-10 and Ireland 15-13, France suffered a narrow 23-20 defeat at the hands of England at Twickenham. They then beat Wales 32-30 at home.
In their final match, France needed a 30+ point win at home against Scotland to take the Six Nations crown off Wales. Unfortunately, in their search for a big win they lost 27-23 on home soil.
France may not have their full strength squad available but they did only narrowly lose to England (23-20) the last time they fielded a second string outfit.
France Injuries & Team News
Due to the long rugby season in France they have left a number of their stalwarts at home. The French squad has 21 uncapped players in it.
The likes of Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack will not feature on this tour.

France have been playing superb rugby for the last two years and despite the inexperience in their ranks, have plenty of quality. I am backing them to get within the 10 point handicap and perhaps cause an upset.
