Wales vs Argentina Predictions
Argentina were the better side in the 1st Test against Wales and would likely have won were they not a man down for more than 40 minutes. My best bet is for Argentina to win this match.
- Wales drew 20-20 against Argentina in their last match.
- Wales are missing 11 first choice players from their squad.
- Argentina are unbeaten in 5 of their last 6 matches.
Head to Head
Wales have won 13 of their previous 19 matches against Argentina. Their last encounter ended in a 20-20 draw last week in Cardiff.
Wales are the Six Nations champions but face a difficult challenge against Argentina. With a number of first choice players away with the British & Irish Lions, the Welsh side is nowhere near full strength.
Wales beat Canada 68-12 two weeks ago but the first Test against Argentina was always going to be a far tougher proposition. Wales were outplayed for large periods but once Argentina got a red card and had to spend the second half with a man down, the hosts came back into it.
With the scores tied at 20-20 Argentina could have snatched it with a penalty but it went wide. The game ended as a draw but Wales will be well aware of Argentina’s strengths this week.
Wales Injuries & Team News
Wayne Pivac is likely to make a few changes. With plenty of youngsters in the side he will want to test some combinations for future use.
Argentina won their first match of 2021 when they beat Romania 24-17 in Bucharest a couple of weeks ago. It was not a full strength side but some key players got a run out to get some game time in before the Wales series.
Last week Argentina were very impressive at the Principality Stadium. They led 13-6 at half-time but Juan Cruz Mallia saw red just before the break.
That gave Wales an avenue back into the match. But even a man down Argentina still looked the better side for large periods so the 20-20 final score will disappoint the visitors. They will be looking for their first ever win in Wales on Saturday.
Argentina Injuries & Team News
Argentina are at full strength again this week. Juan Cruz Mallia is the only player missing through suspension after his red card last week.
