This is basically a final to decide who will win the 2024 U20 Six Nations. Ireland are just a point behind England coming into this fixture.

Surprisingly, Ireland, despite being the away side, are favourites but the handicap is a single point. I am leaning towards the hosts taking the game by a very narrow margin.

Ireland U20 beat England 36-24 at home last season. They did that on their way to claiming the title, but this season they are away from home.

England are top of the table after three rounds, just one point clear of Ireland. They have won all three matches with a bonus point which basically makes this the final.

England began their U20 Six Nations campaign with a convincing 36-11 win against Italy away from home. It was followed by a 28-7 victory on home soil against Wales.

In round three, England saw off a staunch Scottish outfit 30-17 away from home. While the English have been convincing, this will be a very tough test for them to pass.

England will pick what they believe is their strongest available lineup.

Ireland U-20 Form

Ireland are just a point off England at the top of the table and victory here should secure them the title, barring for a defeat next weekend coupled with an England win.

The Irish have won all three games but only picked up four-try bonus points in two of the games compared to England’s three. They won 37-31 on the opening weekend against France away before narrowly beating Italy 23-22 on home soil.

In their last game, Ireland ran rampant against Wales at home. They cruised to a 43-8 win without really getting out of third gear.

Ireland were superb against Wales last time out. I don’t expect too many changes to that side.

Verdict

England v Ireland U20

This should be a tight battle between the best two sides in the competition. The winner is very likely to take the title with a game to spare. I am backign England to take the points.
