England vs Italy Predictions & Tips - England can bounce back in Six Nations

England will be desperate to put in a big performance after the disappointment of last weekend. They have the perfect match to regain some form against Italy. I’m backing England to win by 30-40 points.

England have won all 27 previous matches against Italy. They last met in the 2020 Six Nations where England won 34-5 at the Stadio Olympico in Rome.

England won the 2020 Six Nations and the 2020 Autumn Nations Cup but got their defence of the Six Nations off to a losing start.

Scotland arrived at England having not won at Twickenham in 18 years. That changed as the Scots put in a superb performance to win 11-6.

It was a timid display by the hosts with a few players clearly not quite up to speed with the international game. Captain Owen Farrell had not played this season before the Scotland match so should be better against Italy.

Eddie Jones has made a few changes to his side but has stopped short on making radical changes.

George Ford returns to flyhalf which means Owen Farrell will shift to midfield. Henry Slade will start outside Farrell.

First choice props, Mako Vuniplola and Kyle Sinckler both return to the starting lineup while Luke Cowan-Dickie starts at hooker. 

Italy finished bottom of the 2020 Six Nations after losing all five matches. After one match in the 2021 Six Nations it does not seem far-fetched to say they will be staring down the barrel of five defeats once again.

The one saving grace for head coach, Franco Smith will be that he is introducing a number of youngsters into the Italian squad. The supporters will however want to see better performances from the team.

Last weekend Italy visited the Stade de France where they got hammered 50-10. Italy struggled defensively against a French team who held onto possession for long periods.

Franco Smith has yet to name his squad but Italy are likely to stick with a similar outfit. There are no reported injuries from the squad.
