Going by recent performances England are clear favourites on home soil. In only four of the last 21 games between these sides have the winners won by more than 13 points. History suggests Wales will give a good account of themselves so I’m backing a home win by 12 or less points.

England and Wales are level with three wins apiece in their last six matches. In the 2021 Six Nations Wales beat England 40-24 at home in what was a highly controversial game.

Wales record in England isn’t good though having last won there during the 2015 Rugby World Cup group stage. Since then they have lost five in a row.

England Form

England made a disappointing start to the 2022 Six Nations, losing 20-17 to Scotland at Murrayfield. It was a game Eddie Jones will feel his side should have won but let slip in the final 20 minutes.

Jones’ side did bounce back to beat Italy 33-0 in round two at Twickenham. It was a dominant performance by the hosts but that was largely expected against an Italian side who has not won in the competition since 2015.

This is a must-win game should England have any hopes of challenging for the title this season. It already looks a tough task considering another defeat against either Wales, Ireland or France will put an end to that challenge.

England Injuries & Team News

Everyone was excited for the return from injury of Manu Tuilagi. The inside centre however went down injured again in training so will not feature against Wales.

Wales Form

Wales began the 2022 Six Nations with a 29-7 defeat in Ireland. It was a performance they would want to forget sooner or later as they were never actually in the game.

Last time out Wales did however perform well to beat Scotland 20-17 at home. It was a match that could have gone either way but superb goal kicking by Dan Biggar secured a crucial win.

Wales are the defending Six Nations champions but it looks unlikely that they will retain the title. However, a win here will keep them in the hunt, and Wales do often lift their performance for games against the English.
