Italy Injuries & Team News
Juan Ignacio Brex will make his debut at inside centre ahead of Carlo Canna. Unfortunately Italy’s star player from 2020, Jake Polledri is out with a knee injury meaning Michele Lamaro will come into the back-row.
French rugby has improved drastically since Fabien Galthie took over as head coach following the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
France were unfortunate not to win the 2020 Six Nations when they lost out to England on points difference. Their only defeat in the campaign came against Scotland, which proved costly.
Galthie’s side were in fantastic form again during the Autumn Nations Cup. They beat Italy 36-5 and Scotland 22-15 to qualify for the final. France’s match against Fiji was called off due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Fijian squad.
Heading into the final, France were given no chance against England. They were playing away from home and had 14 first choice players missing. France however came within a whisker of defying the odds but ultimately lost 22-19 after extra time at Twickenham.
France Injuries & Team News
Galthie will start with Matthieu Jalibert and Antoine Dupont at flyhalf and scrumhalf respectively. First choice flyhalf, Romain Ntamack is still out injured.
Arthur Vincent will start at centre with Virimi Vakatawa unavailable.
