Brumbies vs Hurricanes Predictions

This is expected to be the closest of all the Super Rugby quarter-finals. Brumbies are reasonably solid on home soil, but the Canes have beaten them this season, albeit on at home.

I'm backing the hosts to come out on top in this one.

  • Brumbies have won 10 of their last 12 Super Rugby knockout games at home.
  • Hurricanes have lost their last 3 away matches.
  • Hurricanes have lost 3 of their last 5 matches.

Head to Head

The Hurricanes beat the Brumbies 32-27 earlier this season.

Brumbies Form

The Brumbies finished fourth on the Super Rugby table with 10 wins and four defeats in 14 games. For much of the season the Aussie side challenged nearer the top of the table, but a string of average results cost them a top two finish.

After winning eight of their opening 10 games, the Brums suffered two defeats in their last four. They have faced the Canes this season already and lost 32-27 in New Zealand.

To secure a top four finish, the Brumbies beat the Rebels 33-17 last weekend. That after losing 31-21 to the table topping Chiefs the week prior.

Hurricanes Form

The Hurricanes have endured a rather strange season but have mostly won the games they were expected to win. With nine wins from 14, it is a pretty solid performance from the Canes.

The end to the season has not been great for the visitors with three defeats in their last five games. The Hurricanes lost to the Chiefs, Blues and Fijian Drua.

Last week, in need of a confidence boost, the Hurricanes however bounced back well, beating the Crusaders 27-26 on home soil.
