The Crusaders welcome the Hurricanes to the Orangetheory Stadium in Super Rugby Aotearoa on Saturday. The hosts have won their opening four fixtures while the Hurricanes are on a three-match winning streak themselves. I expect this to be a tight contest in Christchurch with value in the handicap market.

Crusaders Form

The Crusaders have not missed a beat since Super Rugby Aotearoa with four victories from their opening four matches in Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Their opening fixture saw them defeat the Hurricanes 39-25 away from home but the match was a lot tighter than the scoreline suggests. This was followed by a 18-13 home win over the Chiefs and a convincing 40-20 win at the Highlanders.

The Crusaders last match was an exciting affair against the Blues in Christchurch. In a very tight contest the hosts were able to pull away in the final 10 minutes to beat the Blues 26-15.

Crusaders News

The Crusaders had a bye last weekend so should be at full strength this weekend. They have no reported injury concerns.

Hurricanes Form

The Hurricanes have seemingly put their inconsistency behind them. After beginning Super Rugby Aotearoa with two defeats they have bounced back to win their next three matches.

That run began with a 26-18 win against the Chiefs before beating the Highlanders 17-11 in terrible conditions. Last week the Hurricanes defeated the in-form Blues 29-27 at home in a scintillating match. This victory will ensure the Canes go into the match against the Crusaders full of confidence.

Hurricanes News

Dane Coles could return after missing last week through a calf injury.  Prop Fraser Armstrong and loose-forwards Reed Prinsep and Gareth Evans could also make a return this weekend.

Crusaders vs Hurricanes Head to Head

The Crusaders have won their last six matches against the Hurricanes. Their last meeting ended 39-25 to the Crusaders in Wellington just three weeks ago.

Crusaders vs Hurricanes Odds

The Crusaders are clear favourites at 1.24 with the Hurricanes priced at 4.10 with Unibet. A draw is paying 26.00.

The handicap is set at 11.5 points with the Crusaders paying 1.94 and the Hurricanes 1.86 to cover it.

Crusaders vs Hurricanes Match Up

The Crusaders have been in sparkling form since Super Rugby Aotearoa got underway but the Hurricanes seem to have found their form. Having won their last three matches the Canes’ will have confidence and although victory in Christchurch may be a long shot they certainly have the form to test the Crusaders.
