Reds vs Waratahs Betting Tips & Preview - Reds tipped to clinch tight clash

  • Reds home form to turn the tide against Waratahs
  • Beale a massive loss for Waratahs
Waratahs vs Reds

The Reds host the Waratahs in the opening fixture of the Super Rugby AU at Suncorp Stadium on Friday 3 July. The hosts showed some promise during Super Rugby while the Tahs' were way below the required standard and thus I expect the Reds to cover the handicap this weekend.

Reds Form

The Reds relatively inexperienced team showed signs of promise prior to the coronavirus-enforced break. Their two victories were both achieved on home soil.

In the run-up to the break they lost at home to the impressive Sharks 33-23 and then lost a close encounter away to the dominant Crusaders 24-20.

Their last fixture before the break saw them claim a fantastic 41-17 win against the Bulls at Suncorp Stadium. After going 17-0 down in the match, the Reds rallied and scored 41 unanswered points as they claimed a bonus-point win.

Reds News

The Reds have unfortunately had to say goodbye to three talented young players. Contract negotiation problems saw Izack Rodda, Harry Hockings and Isaac Lucas terminate their contracts with the Reds.

Waratahs Form

The Waratahs were second bottom of the combined table prior to the break. They had lost six of their seven matches in 2020 Super Rugby.

Their matches before the break saw them get thrashed 51-14 at home to the Chiefs  before getting a  29-17 victory at home over a poor Lions outfit.

The Tahs' final fixture prior to the break saw them visit the Brumbies at GIO Stadium. The hosts scored seven tries on their way to destroying the Waratahs 47-14.

Waratahs News

Kurtley Beale will not be returning for the Super Rugby AU as he has been released early from his contract. It will be a massive blow for the team because of his experience and ability.

Reds vs Waratahs Head to Head

The Waratahs hold a 15-4 advantage over the Reds in their last 19 fixtures. Their previous clash saw the Reds lose 40-32 at Suncorp Stadium.

Reds vs Waratahs Odds

The Reds are short priced at 1.40 to win with the Waratahs at 3.10 and a draw at 23.00.

The handicap is set at 7 points for this clash and pays 1.90 both ways with bet365.

Reds vs Waratahs Match Up

Despite both teams struggling this season it is the Reds who have been putting in promising performances, most notably against the Crusaders. The Waratahs have however struggled for any cohesion and it is doubtful the break would have fixed that.
