The Reds welcome the Western Force to the Suncorp Stadium in Super Rugby AU on Friday. The Force impressed in parts last week but the Reds should have far too much quality in their ranks so I’m predicting a comfortable victory for the hosts.
The Rebels have a young but talented side as they showed prior to Super Rugby cancelation earlier this year. They bounced straight into Super Rugby AU with a rusty but impressive 32-26 victory at home against the Waratahs.
Last week the Reds came back from being 18-8 down with five minutes to play to draw 18-18 away to the Rebels. Extra time couldn’t separate the teams either which means the points were shared.
Unlike last week, the Reds are favoured this weekend and their supporters will expect to see them score a bonus point victory.
The Reds have no injury concerns ahead of this clash but we could see a few changes. Alex Mafi made an impact off the bench and scored the crucial match-leveling try so he may come in for Brandon Paenega- Amosa at hooker.
Western Force Form
The Western Force made a return to Super Rugby last week as they suffered a 23-14 away defeat to the Waratahs. While the match was played in wet conditions the game itself was poor quality, although the Force did rush into a 14-0 lead.
In the second half the Waratahs' experience told and the Force just didn’t have the quality to match the opposition’s intensity.
The Western Force will take some time to get up to speed and come up against stronger opposition this week in the Reds. It could be a big learning curve for them.
Western Force News
Western Force will be satisfied with their opening performance so I expect minimal changes.
Reds vs Western Force Head to Head
The Western Force have won three of their last four Super Rugby matches against the Reds. Their last clash took place in 2017 where the Force won 40-26 at the Suncorp Stadium.
They are both vastly different outfits this time around, especially the Western Force who have not played Super Rugby since 2017.

Weather conditions are set to be fair on Friday in Brisbane which should suit the Reds approach.
Both teams struggled at set piece last week so it will be interesting to see who dominates these areas, although the Reds should have too much quality around the park.
