Reds vs Western Force Predictions
The Reds are unbeaten after three matches this season and look set for another finish within the top two. While they are overwhelming favourites, the Western Force are not the pushover they were last season. I’m backing the Force to lose by less than 16 points.
- Reds have won 2 of their last 3 matches by 2 points.
- Western Force have not lost by more than 16 points in their last 3 matches.
- Western Force lost by 8 points in their last away match against Reds.
- Western Force have conceded 16 & 10 points in their last 2 matches.
Head to Head
The Reds have won their last two matches against the Western Force. Their last matched ended 57-5 in favour of the Reds in Super Rugby AU 2020.
The Reds top the Super Rugby AU table after three matches and are the only unbeaten side left in the competition.
On the opening weekend the Reds were convincing 41-7 winners against the Waratahs before sneaking over the line in a 23-21 victory over the Rebels.
Last weekend was the clash of the titans as the Reds visited the Brumbies. While the Brumbies were the better side for much of the 80 minutes, the Reds did enough to stay in it.
In a dramatic conclusion, the Reds snatched a 40-38 victory in Canberra. That victory will give their supporters further hope of claiming the title this season.
Reds Injuries & Team News
The Reds have made one injury enforced change to their lineup this week. Try scoring machine, Filipo Daugunu has been ruled out so Iiaisa Droasese will start on the left wing.
Western Force Form
The Western Force have certainly showed improvement on their 2020 performance but face a tough task against the Reds. They have won one of their three matches thus far but have been competitive in the other two.
The Force lost their opening match 27-11 at home to the Brumbies. That result should have been much closer but poor finishing cost the Perth-based outfit.
After enjoying a bye in the second week, the Western Force got their first victory, beating the Waratahs 20-16 in Sydney.
Last week they suffered a narrow 10-7 defeat at home to the Rebels. It was arguably the Force’s worst performance with both teams struggling to put any quality together. The Force will need to show a much improved performance but they do have plenty of quality within their ranks.
Western Force Injuries & Team News
The Western Force have made a few changes ahead of this clash. Greg Holmes will start in the front-row ahead of Santiago Medrano while Ryan McCauley drops to the bench for Sitaleki Timani.
Injured left wing, Toni Pulu is not in the squad with Richard Kahui moving to wing from centre. Henry Tefu comes in at inside centre .
