Benetton are a very competitive side but most of their strong performances come at home. After losing in round one, the hosts will be keen to get the four points on home soil. My best bet is for Glasgow to cover the -13 handicap.

Glasgow enter round two of the 2024/25 United Rugby Championship with a little bit of pressure, albeit early in the season. After winning the URC last season, there are many high expectations of the Scottish outfit, as well as many eyes on them.

Last season, Glasgow came from fourth on the table to win the title, beating Munster away in the semi-final and the Bulls away in the final. That was an incredible achievement by the Warriors, which highlighted the quality of the league.

Last week, in round one, Glasgow had a tough trip to Ulster. However, the Warriors were the superior side throughout and should have seen the game out, but lost composure towards the back end which allowed Ulster to win 20-19.

There shouldn’t be wholesale changes to the side after one defeat. Head coach, Franco Smith has always been pretty consistent in his selection, but he is likely to make a couple of changes to keep the team fresh.

Benetton Form

Benetton had a really good URC in 2023/24, qualifying for the playoffs. However, they were challenging at the top of the table halfway through the season before a few defeats cost them dearly.

Looking ahead to this season, the Italian outfit will be looking for another top eight finish. Treviso, however, began the season is relatively disappointing fashion last weekend.

The Scarlets came to town, but Benetton could only manage a 20-20 draw. They will know their home form will have to be better if they want a repeat result from last season.
