  • Sharks have won 3 of their last 5 fixtures.
  • Sharks have won 4 consecutive home games in all competitions.
  • Sharks have never lost against Muster at home.
  • Munster have lost 3 successive away matches.

Head to Head

Munster have a slight edge with two victories to one against the Sharks, including one draw in four meetings.

Sharks Form

The Sharks defeated the defending URC champions, the Glasgow Warriors, 28-24 at home last weekend.

The Sharks edged the points scoring in the first half against Glasgow, going into the break with a slender 15-12 lead.

The Sharks extended their advantage in the second half after they slotted over two penalties and scored a converted try after 71 minutes of play before a late surge by the Warriors saw the visitors dot down two tries and kick over a conversion.

The Sharks are 13th in the URC standings with 10 points from four matches.

The return of the Springboks to the Sharks lineup made the difference in the previous outing, and they will be out to reproduce a similar display against a Munster side that have never beaten the home side in Durban.

Sharks Team News & Injuries

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi scored a first-half try against the Glasgow Warriors on his return to the Sharks.

Fellow springboks Aphelele Fassi and Grant Williams dotted down for a try each in the match.

Jordan Hendrikse slotted over three penalties and two conversions for the Sharks last weekend.

Munster Form

Munster fell to their third defeat away from home last weekend, losing 34-19 against the Stormers.

Munster trailed by two points at the break after scoring two tries and one conversion in the first half; however, the Stormers struck early in the second stanza, scoring a converted try to lead 21-12 in the 47th minute of the match.

Munster reduced the deficit after dotting down a converted try after 68 minutes of play before the Stormers kicked over a penalty, including a drop-goal, and then scored a converted try at the end of the game.

Muster lost 42-33 against Zebre and 26-12 against Leinster in their opening two away games in the URC this season.

Munster are 11th on the log with 11 points from five fixtures.

Munster have been struggling to come up with the goods on their travels this season and must improve on their away form to have a chance of beating the Sharks this weekend.

Munster Team News & Injuries

Conor Murray is unavailable for selection after returning home for family reasons.

Alex Nankivell, Jeremy Loughman and Shane Daly are doubtful starters.

Brian Gleeson, Diarmuid Kilgallen, and Craig Casey have returned to full training.

Tom Farrell, Eoghan Clarke, and Gavin Coombes scored a try each against the Stormers in Cape Town.

Jack Crowley kicked over two conversions in the match.

Verdict

The Sharks will be tough to beat in Durban with so many Springboks at their disposal and are tipped to cover the -6.5 handicap.
