Ronnie O’Sullivan and Kyren Wilson will go head to head in the final of the 2020 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible on Saturday and Sunday. The Rocket will be bidding for a record-breaking 37th career ranking title.

Five-time champion O'Sullivan defeated Mark Selby in a final frame shoot-out to set up the showdown with Wilson, who secured a first final appearance after winning his own semi-final deciding frame against Anthony McGill.

Ronnie O'Sullivan Form

Ronnie O'Sullivan reached a seventh World Snooker Championship final after coming from 16-14 behind to beat Mark Selby 17-16 in a decider. It will be his first appearance in a final since losing to Selby in 2014.

The last of O'Sullivan's five titles came the previous year in 2013, having also been crowned champion in 2001, 2004, 2008 and 2012.

O'Sullivan made light work of Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in the first round with his 10-1 victory officially the fastest match in the history of the tournament. Ding Junhui put up much more fight, but still went down 13-10 to the Rocket in the second round.

O'Sullivan then came from behind to defeat Williams 13-10 in the quarter-finals, before the sixth seed repeated the comeback victory against Selby, who had looked destined to win their semi-final.

Kyren Wilson Form

It was an emotional victory for Wilson when he got the better of Anthony McGill in a final frame that lasted more than an hour in a dramatic end to their semi-final.

It has been a rollercoaster semi with qualifier McGill leading 16-15 and one frame away from a maiden final, only for Wilson to take the last two frames to seal his own spot in a first final.

McGill conceded 35 points trying to escape a snooker on the final red, before seeing Wilson twice go in off with the white. Wilson then fluked the green when trying to play safe and it proved to be the decisive shot.

Wilson had enjoyed a walkover win against Anthony Hamilton in the first round and recorded a 13-9 victory over Martin Gould in the second round.

The world number eight then pulled off a shock when getting the better of reigning champion Trump 13-9 in their quarter-final, prior to defeating McGill.

Verdict

O'Sullivan has been playing down his chances throughout the tournament, but he keeps getting the job done. He has the Crucible final experience on his side, but at the odds isn't value.

Given how close matches have been throughout the World Championships, and between the pair in previous meetings, Wilson with a +3.5 start is the best bet for the final.
