The Northern Irishman had not previously made it past a quarter-final in a major tournament.
Having beaten Luo Honghao 4-0 in the first round, Brown needed final frame deciders to defeat Sam Craigie, Alexander Ursenbacher and Mark King 4-3 in the following rounds.
He stunned Mark Selby 5-4 in another last frame shootout before showing no nerves in his first-ever semi-final as he thumped Maguire 6-1.
