Dominic Thiem Form

Dominic Thiem won his first ever Grand Slam title on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows earlier this season. After knocking Alex de Minaur and Daniil Medvedev out, Thiem went on to win in five sets (2-6 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6) against Alexander Zverev in the US Open final.

Thiem suffered a disappointing quarter-final exit at the hands of Diego Schwartzman at the French Open. Another disappointment was to follow when Andrey Rublev defeated Thiem 7-6 6-2 at the Vienna Open prior to the ATP Finals.

That form has however been turned around over the last week. The Austrian began the ATP Finals with a 7-6 4-6 6-3 win over Stefanos Tsitsipas. That was followed by a 7-6 7-6 win over Rafael Nadal in his last match that has secured him a place in the next round of the ATP Finals.

Andrey Rublev Form

Andrey Rublev has five ATP titles to his name in 2020 including the Qatar Open, Adelaide International, German Open, St Petersburg Open and Vienna Open.

Unfortunately that form has set sail for the Russian. He lost at the Paris Masters to Stan Wawrinka in the quarters before getting his ATP Finals underway with a 6-3 6-4 loss to Rafael Nadal.

Rublev needed to win his next game to have any chance of advancing in the tournament but despite a tight match, he went down 6-1 4-6 7-6 to Stefanos Tsitsipas. It is only pride on the line against Thiem but without pressure the Russian could unleash the form that got him into the tournament.
