Tauson breezed past Lucrezia Stefanini in the first round in Auckland before saving a match point in a 4-6 7-6 7-6 victory over Sofia Kenin. She had a rain delay in the quarter-finals where she knocked out top seed Madison Keys 6-4 7-6.

The Dane took advantage of the draw to beat Robin Montgomery 6-4 6-3 in the semis, saving 2/4 break points against the World No.117.
