Zizou Bergs broke into the Top 100 for the first time in June. His best results on the ATP Tour came after October when he reached the quarter-finals in Antwerp and Metz.

The 25-year-old started the year in Hong Kong where he lost 7-6 6-4 to Arthur Fils in the second round.

The Belgian came from behind in two matches to qualify in Auckland. He then beat Isaac Becroft and Luca Nardi in straight sets before overcoming Roberto Carballes Baena 1-6 6-2 6-3 in the quarter-finals.

Bergs defeated Nuno Borges 6-2 3-6 7-5 in the semis. It was a close match where break points made the difference, Bergs saving 3/7 and winning six of his 13 attempts against the Portuguese player.

The Frenchman came back to beat Pedro Martinez 1-6 7-6 6-3 in the first round in Auckland and hasn’t dropped a set since. He defeated Jan Lennard Struff 6-1 7-6, Facundo Diaz Acosta 6-3 6-1 and Nishesh Basavareddy 7-6 6-4, his serve unbroken in all three victories.
