Rafael Nadal Form
Nadal pulled out of the ATP Cup, where he was supposed to lead Spain, and struggled to practice due to a lower back injury. So it wasn’t clear what to expect from the world no. 2 coming into this tournament.
Against Laslo Djere in the first round, Nadal looked pretty good as he won 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 in an hour and 52 minutes. He won an impressive 40 of 48 points behind his first serve and saved four of five break points - all of which bodes well for his tournament chances given that he was clearly in second gear.
Nadal has a 23-1 record against qualifiers at Grand Slams and should have little difficulty beating Mmoh after the latter’s lengthy match in the first round.
