The 20-year-old has saved her best work for the i125 circuit since then, reaching a final in Charleston and winning in Paris where she beat Emma Navarro in the final.

The Russian has competed in two events on grass, a first round exit in s’Hertogenbosch followed by a quarter-final defeat in Birmingham.

Shnaider had a great start in Bad Homburg, defeating Angelique Kerber, Dayana Yastremska and Paula Badosa in straight sets. She got past 3rd seed Emma Navarro 7-5 2-6 6-3 in the semi-finals, saving 13/17 break points.
