The 2025 BMW Open continues in Germany, a critical clay court warm-event for the French Open. The ATP 500 tournament is held until 20 April MTTC Iphitos in Munich.

Alexander Zverev is the favourite and top seed after winning the event in 2017 and 2018. Jan-Lennard Struff has reached two finals in Munich and is the defending champion.

Let's delve into the players poised to make a significant impact at this year's BMW Open and try to find some value in the betting market.

Top Contenders

Alexander Zverev (ATP Rank:3 - Odds: 3.20)

Alexander Zverev enters the BMW Open as the top seed and a two-time champion, having clinched titles in 2017 and 2018. He reached the Australian Open final, losing to Jannik Sinner, and made the quarter-finals at the Indian Wells Masters.

His clay court form includes a defeat to Matteo Berrettini in his opening match in Monte-Carlo. Zverev beat Alexandre Müller 6-4 6-1 in the first leg to set up a clash against Daniel Altmaier.

Francisco Cerúndolo (ATP Rank: 22 - Odds: 7.00)

Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo on the verge of a return to the Top 20. He has clay-court form under his belt in 2025, reaching the final in Buenos Aires and semi-finals in Santiago.

He got to the second round at the Monte Carlo Masters, going down 3-6 6-0 6-1 to Carlos Alcaraz. He meets defending champion Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round.

Ben Shelton (ATP No.15 - Odds: 9.50)

Ben Shelton enters the BMW Open as the third seed, his best result this year coming in a semi-final appearance at the Australian Open. He has a 16-15 record on clay, losing four of his six matches on the surface before competing in Germany.

The American showcased his fighting spirit by saving three match points to overcome Croatian qualifier Borna Gojo 4-6 7-6 7-6 in the first round. I would be surprised if he goes the distance in Munich.

Jakub Mensik (ATP No.23 - Odds: 12.00)

Jakub Mensik has emerged as one of the standout young talents on the ATP Tour. At just 19 years old, he won his first ATP title at the Miami Open, defeating Jack Draper, Arthur Fils and Taylor Fritz en route to the final where he beat his idol Novak Djokovic.

This victory propelled the Czechto a career-high ATP singles ranking of No.23. Has yet to prove himself against the top players on clay and has a tough road to the final in Munich.

Road to the final

Alexander Zverev is likely to face a tough opponent in the quarter-finals, and that could end up being his toughest match in the event.

No other player in the draw has had as much success in Munich, Miomir Kecmanovic a chance to go deep in the bottom half of the draw.
