Altmaier's performances improved in Monte-Carlo Masters, beating Jaume Munar in the qualifiers and Félix Auger-Aliassime in the main draw before falling to Carlos Alcaraz in the third round.

The 26-year-old started the BMW Open with a tough 7-6 7-6 victory over Chun Hsin Tseng. Winning 36% of his 2nd serves, he saved 8/11 break points.
