Novak Djokovic started 2021 by winning the Australian Open. 

He didn’t play again until the clay court swing in Europe. The Serbian overcame Jannik Sinner 6-4 6-2 in the first round in Monte Carlo before a 6-4 7-5 defeat to Daniel Evans.

The World No.1 competed in the Serbian Open, dispatching Soon Woo Kwon and Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets before a 7-5 4-6 6-4 exit against Aslan Karatsev.

Djokovic reached the Rome Masters final. He beat Stefanos Tsitsipas and Lorenzo Sonego but couldn’t get past Rafael Nadal in the showpiece, going down 7-5 1-6 6-3 in Italy.

Novak Djokovic returned to Serbia for the Belgrade Open. He has had no problems at the Novak Tennis Center, beating Mats Moraing 6-2 7-6 and Federico Coria 6-1 6-0 where he saved 0/1 break points.

Andre Martin slipped out of the top 100 in September and had a poor start to 2021, knocked out in the first round in three straight hard court tournaments.

The Slovakian switched to clay in February, alternating between early exits on the ATP tour and second round exits on the Challenger circuit.

The 31-year-old has turned that around in Belgrade. He went through qualifying before a 3-6 7-6 7-5 win against Christopher O'Connell in the first round.

Martin beat World No.31 Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-1 4-6 7-6 in the second round where he saved 10/18 break points. 

He took on 5th seed Dusan Lajovic in the quarter-finals, coming through 3-6 6-3 6-4 after saving 8/13 break points.
