Novak Djokovic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Predictions
This will be Novak Djokovic’s 29th Grand Slam final and Stefanos Tsitsipas’s first. Djokovic is 18-10 in Grand Slam finals and played an extraordinarily high-level match to defeat Rafael Nadal in the semifinals.
Tsitsipas struggled to get past Alexander Zverev in five sets, a much less impressive performance. Djokovic’s experience gives him a huge advantage at Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic Form
Novak Djokovic became the only man in history to twice beat Rafael Nadal at the French Open when he defeated the 13-time champion 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2.
Djokovic had to play for four hours and 11 minutes of absolutely gruelling rallies against Nadal to get the win, ending with 50 winners and 37 unforced errors. It was an incredibly physical match which is already being acclaimed as one of the greatest of all time.
Djokovic’s win over Nadal followed a four-set tussle with Matteo Berrettini and a comeback from two sets down against Lorenzo Musetti, so it’s been a testing tournament for him.
It’s worth remembering that he lost in the final on the only other occasion he beat Nadal at the French Open. Djokovic has a tremendous advantage in experience and has never lost to Tsitsipas at Grand Slam level or on clay.

Stefanos Tsitsipas Form
Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas continues an exceptional season, now 39-8 in 2021 and on a ten-match winning streak.
His run to the French Open final has proved him to be the best of his generation on clay, with a straight-sets win over second seed Daniil Medvedev followed by defeating Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.
However, his win over Zverev was not impressive. From two sets up, Tsitsipas became visibly nervous and error-prone and ended up having to beat Zverev 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3 – a match that should have been straight sets.
That doesn’t bode well for how Tsitsipas might perform in his quest to become the first man since Stan Wawrinka at the Australian Open in 2014 to win his first Grand Slam final when the player across the net has more experience.
Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas meet in the French Open final on Sunday 13 June.

Tsitsipas pushed Djokovic very hard in the French Open semifinals in 2020 but still lost by eight games. With the pressure of a Grand Slam final appearance, and with the level Djokovic has been playing at, it seems realistic to expect the Serb to win.
