Rafael Nadal Form
Rafael Nadal improved his French Open record to 102-2 with a 6-0, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Richard Gasquet in the second round.
Nadal has now won 14 of his last 15 matches, 29 consecutive sets at the French Open and is now on a 30-match winning streak at Roland Garros.
Against both Gasquet and Alexei Popyrin in the first round, Nadal played one set that was markedly poorer than the other two, but still managed to win through in straight sets.
After having twice been pushed past 5-5 in sets by Norrie at the Australian Open, Nadal will be respectful of the British player’s good form. Nadal has never lost to a fellow left-hander at the French Open.

Cameron Norrie Form
Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie is in the midst of the finest season of his career so far. He has compiled a 29-11 record and the majority of those wins have come on clay.
Norrie is 16-4 on clay so far in 2021, and reached ATP 250 finals in Estoril and Lyon, losing to Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Stefanos Tsitsipas respectively. Norrie also made the quarterfinals of the Barcelona 500, where he lost to Nadal in straight sets.
Norrie has beaten Marin Cilic, Karen Khachanov and Dominic Thiem on clay in 2021. After defeating Bjorn Fratangelo in straight sets in the first round of the French Open, he recorded another excellent win over Lloyd Harris, who is also having a strong season, in four sets.
Norrie is playing well and is a tenacious competitor, but he lacks the outright weapons required to challenge Nadal on this surface.
Rafael Nadal and Cameron Norrie meet in the French Open third round on Saturday 5 June.

Rafael Nadal looks very likely to record his tenth consecutive straight-sets win at the French Open despite Cameron Norrie’s good form.
Norrie kept the margin of defeat to eight games when he faced Nadal at the Australian Open, but Roland Garros is a very different arena.
