Alexander Shevchenko bounced back from a tough first-round defeat to Jaume Munar at the Australian Open by reaching the quarter-finals in Montpellier and Rotterdam.

He claimed the big scalp of World No. 7 Holger Rune in the last-16 round of Rotterdam in February.

The 23-year-old Kazakh has pushed the likes of Alexander Bublik and Grigor Dimitrov to three-setters in respective defeats in Montpellier and Rotterdam.

Shevchenko's form has seen a huge slide since then, though, winning just two of his following nine matches.

He returned to winning ways a month ago via a hardly-fought three-set victory over Arthur Rinderknech at the start of the Madrid Masters.

Shevchenko conquered Fabian Marozsan in straight sets in his first match in Geneva before a R16 walkover against Emil Ruusuvuori, who was forced to withdraw from the tournament through illness.

He has clinched his maiden Top 20 victory in the process, beating World No. 18 Nicolas Jarry in the second round.

Back-to-back quarter-finals in Montpellier and Delray Beach launched the heavy-hitting Italian to his career-high No. 56 ranking.

The 22-year-old kept his hot spell of form going by earning the biggest win of his career on the way to this clash with Shevchenko.

Cobolli endured a set and a break deficit before mounting a sensational comeback in the R16 match against World No. 15 Ben Shelton on Tuesday in Geneva.

The Florence native stunned the fourth seed 4-6 7-6 6-2 two days ago. He won 65 percent of points on Shelton's second serve on the occasion.
