Cameron Norrie vs Novak Djokovic Preview

After a couple of solid wins, Novak Djokovic has dropped into a price range where he’s basically unbackable at 1.14. But he’s looking really solid and confident, so backing him to get the job done in straight sets and cover the handicap games looks like a smart call in this contest.

Cameron Norrie Form

Before coming to Geneva, Cameron Norrie’s best week this year saw him win just two matches. But this time, he’s put together five wins in a row to reach the semifinals, making it his best run of the season.

He did get a bit lucky in the second round against Tomas Machac, who started strong but then struggled physically and retired in the deciding set.

Aside from that, Norrie’s been solid all week, starting from the qualifying rounds and beating players like Alexei Popyrin and Jenson Brooksby without dropping a set.

The former British number one has had a tough time lately, so a strong run on the main tour, especially on his least favourite surface, will be a huge boost for his confidence and morale.

For now, the immediate benefit of this good form in Geneva is that it’s pulled him away from the danger of falling out of the top 100. He began the week ranked 90 but is up to 81 in the live rankings now.

This will be Norrie’s first semifinal on clay since Rio de Janeiro in February 2024. He also has a pretty solid record in clay semifinals, with five wins and three losses.

Novak Djokovic Overview

  • Career high rank: 1
  • ELO rank: 3
  • Season record: 14-7

  • Semifinal record against non-top-50 players: 9-0 in career

Novak Djokovic Form

Novak Djokovic bounced back from the disappointing straight-sets loss to Matteo Arnaldi by knocking him out in straight sets in the quarterfinals in Geneva, giving himself a perfect birthday present in the process.

Djokovic hadn’t won a match in three attempts before this week and looked pretty ordinary in his previous clay matches. But this week, he’s come out a different player — mentally focused and like a man on a mission.

When Djokovic is in that zone, he’s tough to stop, and this looks like the perfect opportunity for him to end his ATP title drought.

The former world number one hasn’t won an ATP title since 2023, which is the longest drought he’s had in his decorated career. It’s also got him anxiously waiting for his 100th tour-level title.

Nine times in his career Djokovic has faced non-top-50 players in tour-level semifinals and he’s won every single one. That’s no surprise, considering how hard he is to beat, even for the best players in big matches.

That said, his debut run in Geneva last year ended in the semifinals when he lost to Tomas Machac in three sets.

Verdict

Novak Djokovic is now a heavy favourite at 1.14 after some strong wins. He looks sharp and confident, making a straight-sets victory and handicap cover a solid bet.
