Daniel Altmaier has picked up ten wins during this year’s European clay swing, with just six losses along the way. His standout performances include a run to the round of 16 at the Monte Carlo Masters and a semifinal showing at the Turin Challenger last week.

He didn’t make much of a splash at the previous German tournament in Munich, mainly because of a tough draw that had him facing top seed and eventual champion Alexander Zverev already in the second round.

Now heading into the second and final German clay event of the season in Hamburg, Altmaier will be hoping for a deeper run.

His track record here is a bit mixed. He made the quarterfinals last year – his first-ever at an ATP 500 event – but has fallen in the first round in all five of his other appearances.
