Botic Van De Zandschulp has only managed one tour-level win this year and heads into Indian Wells with a 1-5 record.

Van De Zandschulp has had some rough draws, including facing Alex de Minaur in the opening round of the Australian Open and Carlos Alcaraz first up in Rotterdam.

Van De Zandschulp won his first match of the season in Doha over Abdullah Shelbayh, but he ran into De Minaur again in the second round.

The Dutchman went down in the final round of qualifying at Indian Wells earlier this week to Matteo Gigante, but he has received entry into the main draw as a lucky loser.

Nick Kyrgios Form

Nick Kyrgios missed the better part of two years after undergoing wrist and knee surgeries before returning at the Brisbane International where he bombed out in the opening round.

Kyrgios picked up an abdominal strain in that defeat and then suffered a straight sets defeat to Jacob Fearnley at the Australian Open.

Awarded a wildcard into Indian Wells, Kyrgios returns to an event where he has twice made the quarter-finals and defeated the likes of Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud on the way.

Kyrgios' wrist seems to be an ongoing issue and he just doesn't look fit enough. Van De Zandschulp might not even need his best level to advance into the second round.
