The tournament is susceptible to inclement weather, which entirely stops play at this venue with no roof.

Temperature: Expected to stay in the range of low to mid 20s Celsius in the first week; To rise in the second week.

Rome is expected to have its first roof by 2026.

  • Alexander Zverev -The defending champion, has a strong track record and clear affinity for Rome.

  • Casper Ruud - A proven clay-courter, arrives with fresh momentum after winning the Madrid title last week.

Players Quotes

  • Carlos Alcaraz: Previously I said that clay was my second favourite surface after fast courts, but now I’m not sure. I think now I’d say it’s my favourite.

  • Jannik Sinner: I will be very happy to return to the match court, especially in Rome, a very special tournament for me.

  • Alexander Zverev: Clay is the surface where the biggest differences happen. Whether it’s 30 degrees or ten degrees, whether it’s raining or completely dry. Big difference in altitude. When it’s cold, it feels like you’re running with the clay; when it’s hot, it feels like the clay is just on top of the court, like a powder almost.

Verdict

With Jannik Sinner returning from a nearly three-month absence, Carlos Alcaraz dealing with injury concerns, and Alexander Zverev not at his best, this edition of the Rome Masters appears wide open.
From a betting perspective, Zverev’s impressive track record at this venue makes him a strong contender, while Alcaraz, who comes in better prepared than Sinner, also stands out as a top pick.
