The women's tennis season moves to Asia with the 20th edition of the Korea Open. The WTA 500 event is play on outdoor hard courts at the Seoul Olympic Park Tennis Center.
Five Top 20 players are competing - Daria Kasatkina, Liudmila Samsonova, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Diana Shnaider and Marta Kostyuk. Haddad Maia was runner-up in 2017 and Yuan Yue was runner-up last year, Ekaterina Alexandrova the champion in 2022.
Jessica Pegula was the defending champion but withdrew before the tournament began. Iga Swiatek, Emma Navarro, Elena Rybakina and Katie Boulter are among the other players who pulled out.
