Andre Agassi and Novak Djokovic have both won six singles at the Miami Masters. 

Roger Federer is next best with four titles, Pete Sampras winning three. Andy Murray, Andy Roddick and Ivan Lendl all won three titles in Miami.

The first Miami Open was held in 1985 with Tim Mayotte beating Scott Davis in the final. Hubert Hurkacz is the defending champion after beating Jannik Sinner in the 2021 final.

History


The Miami Open was originally intended to be the first major tournament of the year. The first tournament was held in February, 1985 at Laver's International Tennis Resort in Delray Beach, Florida.

The prize money of US$1.8 million was surpassed only by Wimbledon and the US Open.

In 1986 the tournament relocated to Boca West before moving to Key Biscayne in 1988. In 2019 the Miami Open moved to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
